Federal authorities offered a $ 25,000 reward for information that would help capture the fugitive Carlos Cotto Cruz, alias “Wasa.”
The reward was offered by the Federal Agency for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
In addition to being on the run from federal court since 2019 for violating probation conditions in a gun and drug trafficking case, criminal charges recently filed in the state sphere weigh against Cotto Cruz.
Cotto Cruz is one of seven men against whom a judge found cause for arrest this week for the double murder recorded last December 4 in Sant Llorenç, where two more people were injured.
Against the seven subjects, the prosecution filed 105 complaints, for which a global bail of $ 17,850,000 was imposed.
“In collaboration with federal authorities, we request the cooperation of the people of Puerto Rico to arrest this subject, who is presumed armed and dangerous,” said the designated secretary of the Department of Public Safety, Alexis Torres.
“We request that anyone who has information to help us reach the suspect inform us in a confidential manner,” he added.
Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Antonio López Figueroa has indicated that the 33-year-old fugitive has been described as a white-skinned man, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 155 pounds with brown eyes and hair.
“The union of all sectors is essential to arrest and prosecute dangerous subjects, such as Carlos Cotto Cruz. No matter what information the public has, no matter how small it may seem, it can lead us to find their whereabouts and contribute to justice “I trust that the Puerto Rican people will, once again, take a step forward and join the police in combating violence in our streets,” he said.
