An iron worker was seriously injured while working on a Long Island Rail Road project at Mineola station Saturday morning, the MTA said.
The unidentified worker was part of a crew building a pedestrian bridge at the station when a crane hit a high-voltage power line around 9:30 p.m. at the MTA.
She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, the agency said.
“We have initiated a full investigation into this incident and are reviewing all on-site safety protocols and procedures. All project work has stopped pending the investigation,” said MTA Construction & Development President, Janno Lieber.
This was the second incident at the station since Monday, when a crew was trapped in a signal tower while a building next door was being demolished and partially collapsed, according to a Newsday report which said no one was going. be injured.
Construction is part of a project to add an additional runway and make other improvements between Floral Park and Hicksville.
