FIFA 21 regains Assassin’s Creed No. 1 | Graphics in UK boxes

FIFA 21 regained the top spot in the UK, having lost the coveted No. 1 spot for Christmas last week.

EA’s football game increased in sales by 8% in physical copies only.

That means last week’s No. 1, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, falls to No. 2 after a 21% drop in weekday sales. With the graph going over the Christmas period, it’s not entirely surprising to see sales for most games fall. Animal Crossing: New Horizons rises to number 3, despite falling sales by 20% on weekdays, while Mario Kart 8: Deluxe jumps to number 4 despite a decrease of 8%. To complete the top five, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War drops from No. 2 to No. 5 after a 42% sales receipt.

December’s big new release, Cy Projpunk 2077 from CD Projekt, falls to number 8 after a 57% drop in sales. Remember, all of this is based solely on sales of physical games.

Other games that make up the Top Ten include Spider-Man Miles Morales for PS4 and PS5 (which ranks No. 6 after a 31% drop in sales), Just Dance 2021 (up one spot to No. 7, despite 28% sales), Super Mario 3D All-Stars (up to number 9 with sales down 25%) and Minecraft a Switch (up to one up to 10 after a 26% drop in sales).

Just Dance 2021 has been a real hit for Ubisoft. There is now only one week left to beat Watch Dogs Legion as the publisher’s second biggest game of the year (behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla), and its sales after seven weeks are up 35% from Just Dance 2020 during the same period.

Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has enjoyed its biggest year to date. The Nintendo Switch game has been selling better and better every year since it was released, which went back to 2017.
