“Units came in, we put out the fire, and unfortunately we lost two children,” Detroit Fire Commissioner Eric Jones said. “It’s extremely tragic every time you lose a child, but every time you lose two children for Christmas, it’s unimaginable.”
Since most of the people who responded were parents, they put themselves in the shoes of the mother who lost the two boys, Dylan and Demarion, ages 6 and 7.

Three more children escaped the house with multiple injuries. Local 4 learned that the mother had to jump from the second story with a son to keep her alive.
Unfortunately, the pain is not new to the family.
“We lost our brother earlier this year and now we just lost our two nephews, so we’re grateful for everyone else who did, but we’re hurting and it won’t be easy,” Denisha Hairston said. the aunt of the two boys.
Investigators are working to find out what caused the fire.
