It looks like Google-owned Fitbit is preparing an update to its online fitness tracker Charge, based on a filtered video and online laptop playback.
Priced to be said to be $ 179, the Fitbit Charge 5 will be $ 50 more expensive than the current Charge 4, but there are some obvious hardware changes that have more in common with the luxury Fitbit, no less important screen rounded in color that follows the curve of the ergonomic wrist strap.
The images suggest that the device will have capacitive touch zones on the sides and, according to the filtered video, the Charge 5 will also have built-in GPS and ECG sensors, as well as an electrodermal activity sensor (EDA) that aims to track your stress levels.
The EDA sensor meets the company’s daily readiness level, which is a Fitbit Premium feature for subscribers only ($ 10 a month or $ 80 a year). The score is based on your exercise history, sleep, and heart rate and is used to recommend the exercise routine you should perform each day.
All devices purchased include a six-month trial of Fitbit Premium, which clearly competes with Apple Watch and its Apple Fitness + integration, with guided workouts and programs offered in addition to sleep tools and other health knowledge.
The Fitbit Charge will be available in at least three colors and there is no word on the specific release date of the fitness-cum-smartwatch, but Google is likely to place it strategically at the launch of the Apple Watch Series 7s will announce next month approximately.
