Florence Pugh logs in to play the main character in the Universal Pictures adaptation of the upcoming book The Maid
Florence Pugh has continually proven to be one of the most sought after actresses working today, achieving another outstanding project.
The 24-year-old British beauty has signed on to play the main character in The Maid for Universal Pictures, according to Deadline.
The news comes just six months after HarperCollins triumphed in a “heated” six-publisher auction for Canadian writer Nina Prose’s debut novel

The Maid: The 24-year-old British beauty has signed on to play the main character in The Maid for Universal Pictures, according to Deadline
The maid follows Molly (Pugh), a maid from the rhythmic Regency Grand Hotel, who is “used to being invisible,” cleaning up the rich and famous and the secrets they leave behind.
His world turns upside down when he discovers an infamous and rich guest named Mr. Black dead in his bed.
What follows is described as a search for the truth that reflects the popular board game Clue, as Molly tries to determine who she can trust.

Invisible: The maid follows Molly (Pugh), a maid from the rhythmic Regency Grand Hotel, who is “used to being invisible”, cleaning up after the rich and famous and the secrets they leave behind.
HarperCollins will release The Maid as one of its main hardcover titles in the spring of 2022, following the intense bidding war in June.
Nita Prose is the name of Nita Pronovost, the vice president and editorial director of Simon & Schuster in Canada.
Pugh will also act as producer, alongside Josh McLaughlin for Wink Pictures and Chris Goldberg through his Winterlight Pictures, with executive production of Prose.

The project has no screenwriter or deputy director at the moment, although producer Goldberg revealed on Twitter that he always saw Pugh playing Molly.
‘When I read @NitaProse’s book from a sitting I saw a person: @Florence_Pugh. And now she’s the protagonist and I’m producing, ”he began.
‘Absolutely surreal. It could never have happened without: @agentmilburn @josiefreedman. So grateful and inspired right now, ”he concluded.

Pugh will be coming out of two critically acclaimed 2019 films, the A24 thriller Midsommar and Sony’s Little Women adaptation.
She also stars in the long-awaited Black Widow adventure at Marvel Studios as Yelena Belova, the sister of Scarlett Johansson’s main character.
Pugh will also reprise that role in Hawkeye’s upcoming television series, and is currently filming Don’t Worry Darling, director Olivia Wilde’s new film starring alongside Harry Styles and Chris Pine.
