When Kolby Parker first told police how his grandfather had died, Ronal Wells Sr., 77, claimed he had stabbed the elderly man in self-defense after he was attacked. But when Parker took Wells’ severed ears out of his pants pockets as they were interrogated, they knew the story had more stuff. Once involved in the heinous murder, Parker allegedly threw himself at a deputy in the courtroom in an attempt to grab the officer’s gun and weapon, according to the Orlando Sentinel, who reported that Parker later confessed to hitting his grandfather’s head with a baseball bat before stabbing him several times with a butcher knife, then cutting off his ears. Parker explained that “it was time to leave,” the arrest report quoted by the Sentinel. In a search in the bedroom of Wells’ house, where Parker had been living, investigators said they found a plastic apron and bloodied ears and had the phrase “The Family Butcher.”
Parker is charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bail.
