Through a letter, the CFO of Florida, asked the organizers of the Olympics, in case of cancellation in Tokyo, Japan, to consider the state of the sun as the headquarters of such an important sporting event.
Faced with concerns from Japanese leaders about holding the Olympics in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jimmy Patronis, Florida’s chief financial officer, sent a letter to Thomas Bach, chairman of the International Olympic Committee to propose to the United States and in Florida specifically to “move” sports games.
Among the arguments of his letter, Patronis says that Florida did not completely close its economy and has been revived with sporting events as it is now the Super Bowl, coupled with its tourist destinations such as Disney, which have reopened safe in the state for the past few months.
Although Florida is close to reaching the 26,000 killed by Covid-19 since the pandemic began and continues to add thousands of new coronavirus infections daily, Patronis insists on holding the Olympics, especially in the state of the sun. , highlighting in his letter the goodness and strengths of Florida to become the new venue for this important sporting event.
