Food and water distribution sites in the Houston area

HOUSTON – The city of Houston is still under a boiling water warning, and while water pressure has improved throughout the area, the warning is expected to remain in effect until Monday.

Dozens of nearby municipalities, including Pearland and Katy, also issued boiling water warnings.

Residents are encouraged to use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene, such as brushing their teeth or brushing their faces until notice is given.

Amid boiling water advice, several water distribution sites are opening in the Houston area.

Please note that this list will be updated as new sites are announced and closed.

  • Saturday at 9 a.m. – West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM): 10501 Meadowglen Dr, 77042

  • Saturday at 8:30 a.m. – Church on the Cross: 3835 S. Dairy Ashford, 77082

  • Saturday at noon – Fountain Life Center: 14083 S Main, 77035

  • Saturday at 9:30 a.m. – New Light Church – Love City: 7317 East Houston Road, 77028

The Astros Foundation, Brothers Produce, the mayor and the city of Houston have teamed up to create a second water distribution event to be held Sunday at Butler Stadium.

The event will be open to anyone in the Houston area who needs assistance. Each car in the event will receive five liters of water.

The event will begin at 2 p.m., and will last until supplies run out. Butler Stadium is located at 13755 S. Main Street in Houston.

Seven Harris County Precinct 2 Parks will host free water distributions. People must bring their own containers to fill them with water, which will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and there is a limit of five gallons per person.

Note: Since this water comes from the taps located in the parks, it is subject to the notice of the boiling zone of the area to be safe for consumption.

The seven parks that will have water are Clear Lake Park (5001 NASA Pkwy, Seabrook, TX 77586), Sylvan Beach Park (636 N. Bayshore Dr., La Porte, TX 77571), Bill Crowley Park (5100 Lauder Rd., Houston, TX 77039), Jim and Joann Fonteno Park (14350 ½ Wallisville Rd., Houston, TX 77049), Crosby Community Center (409 Hare Rd., Crosby, TX 77532), Riley Community Center (808 1/2 Magnolia, Barrett , TX, 77532) and Leonel Castillo Community Center (2101 South St., Houston, TX 77009).

Harris County 2 will host a pair of automatic pop-up food gifts on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s event begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at the Grayson Community Center at 13828 Corpus Christi Street.

Sunday’s food distribution will be held at 10 a.m. at the Leonel Castillo Community Center at 2101 South Street.

People are asked to stay in their vehicles during distribution and the staff / volunteers of venue 2 will place food in the recipients ’trunks.

The Harris County and surrounding area ministerial coalition partners with Houston Food Bank, Houston Community College, Harris County District 3 Commissioner Sherman Eagleton and Harris County District 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis for an event of food distribution on Saturday 20 February. distributed on the HCC North Forest campus at 6010 Little York Road in Houston beginning at 10 p.m. The event is scheduled to run until 3 p.m.

Cotton Holdings and its affiliates will distribute free hot meals in the Houston area on Friday and Saturday at the following restaurant locations:

  • Jimmy Changas (300 Westgreen Blvd, Katy, TX 77450): 300 meals from 11 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday

  • Rollin Phatties (1731 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77098): 375 meals as of 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 19; from noon on Saturday, February 20th

  • Jersey Mike’s Subs (7670 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024): 375 meals from 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20

Find Name Mi Street Food Truck and other food trucks on Alameda 3900 that give food to the homeless. They served on Friday and are scheduled to return on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to give away more free food.
