Former LSU TE Tigers Arik Gilbert will stay at SEC and move to Florida Gators

Arik Gilbert, a former LSU winger, announced on social media on Sunday that he would be moving to Florida.

Gilbert was No. 6 in the 2020 category in Marietta, Georgia, and initially entered the transfer portal on January 5th.

He was fourth in receiving yards for LSU last season with 368 yards and two touchdowns in 35 receptions in eight games. Gilbert abruptly retired from the season on December 9 and coach Ed Orgeron said at the time that he expected Gilbert to return in 2021.

Gilbert will give the Gators another great password capture option. Kyle Pitts, who enters the NFL draft, was the second team to receive yards this season with 770 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Florida has expanded its roster for 2021 through the transfer portal with Gilbert, in addition to runner-up Demarkcus Bowman, who was traded from Clemson and was No. 23 in the 2020 Class Class Recruitment.

Staff have also added to the Florida list DaQuan Newkirk of Auburn and Antonio Shelton of Penn State.
