LOS ANGELES – Former Major League Baseball pitcher Scott Erickson has been charged with reckless driving in connection with a Southern California hit that killed two boys last year.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said Erickson, 52, was charged Wednesday with reckless driving.
Investigators told KABC-TV she was running with Rebecca Grossman on Sept. 29, moments before she killed eleven-year-old Mark Iskander and her eight-year-old brother Jacob as they crossed the street in Westlake Village, suburb 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
The boys were crossing the street at a marked pedestrian crossing with their parents.
Prosecutors alleged that Grossman continued to drive and eventually stopped about a mile from the scene of the crash.
Grossman, 57, pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter, manslaughter with gross negligence and driving with a hit that resulted in death. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 34 years for state imprisonment.
Grossman, a philanthropist whose Grossman Burn Foundation supports the survivors of the burns, is out on $ 2 million bail.
Erickson is expected to be tried on March 16. A call to a number listed for him went unanswered.
Erickson played in the competition between 1991 and 2006, including the first six seasons of his career with the Minnesota Twins and seven seasons with the Baltimore Orioles.
