Francoise Amiridis convicted of planning her husband’s murder

A judge ruled that the wife of the late Greek ambassador to Brazil was sentenced to 31 years behind bars for being the “brain” of his murder.

The body of Kyriakos Amiridis was found during the Christmas holidays of 2016 in a car that he and his wife had rented in a rugged neighborhood on the outskirts of Rio, where the family was on vacation.

At that time, his wife, Françoise de Souza Oliveira, was having an affair with a military police officer, Sergio Gomes.

Gomes later confessed that he killed Amiridis at the request of his lover and was imprisoned for 22 years, the BBC reported. De Souza Oliveira received a sentence of 31 years.

The trial lasted three days – which ended on Friday – and Judge Anna Christina da Silveira Fernandes, of the 4th criminal court in Nova Iguacu, heard 18 witnesses, the Agence França-Presse reported.

“The crime was carefully thought out, premeditated [by De Souza Oliveira]”, Said da Silveira Fernandes during the sentence.” According to the testimony collected, the defendant planned and designed, being the brain behind the whole macabre plot. “

The judge said “this family was broken up” as a result of the murder.

Another man, Eduardo Moreira Tedeschi de Melo, one of Gomes’ relatives, was acquitted of murder, but has already served a year of probation to help hide the body.
