- Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have not been impressed since they joined in the summer
- Lampard said some “don’t live in the real world” and expect immediate success
- He also compared the German duo to former stars Didier Drogba and Eden Hazard
Frank Lampard has urged that Chelsea’s new summer signings, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, need more time to settle in the Premier League.
The German pair were Lampard’s two most notable additions to their spending stay, with Werner costing £ 47m from RB Leipzig and Havertz joined for an initial £ 62m share from Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite their transfer costs, none of them have yet thrived in the Premier League when we enter the middle of the season.

Werner has scored just four goals at the head of the blue line this quarter, while player Havertz has only one goal and one assist.
After the defeat against Arsenal and the draw with Aston Villa, Lampard has once again defended his summer signings, claiming that someone who hopes to work to the fullest immediately “does not live in the real world”.
He told Sky Sports: “If you think you’re going to be consistent this year just because you’ve brought in new players who need to settle in and we still have young players, who play against tough teams in the Premier League every week then you don’t live in real world “.
“The real world has made us climb backwards in the last two or three weeks during a period of a lot of work and we have to show that we are stronger than that and have a good time.”

After suffering a transfer ban last season for breaching fair play financial regulations, the club welcomed numerous expensive arrivals at Stamford Bridge when they signed Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy for big money.
However, Werner and Havertz have been the most affected for their low performance, but Lampard compared the German duo to some of Chelsea’s foreign signings, such as Didier Drogba and Eden Hazard.
The Chelsea boss explained that some of the best topflight players needed time to find their feet after reaching a foreign league and insisted they would reap the rewards of their talent in time.
“Didier the first year certainly didn’t produce the numbers he was throughout his career nor did he have a massive impact, he was still very good,” he continued.

Game creator Havertz has only one goal and one assist and has had a hard time impressing the club
“Eden Hazard, I was here your first year. A very talented player, who adapts and adapts and in two or three seasons favors the Premier League at the top, achieving 50% of our goals sometimes.
Look at Thierry Henry, Kevin de Bruyne, (Mohamed) Salah, stories everywhere. Today, with social media, everyone is waiting for it right now, all the variables that surround it.
“Right now we have to put it aside, have patience and by the way we’re fine too. The team is getting better. I’ve always believed in hard work and when you have talent like these guys, they just have to stay- if there ”.
Despite a brilliant start to the season under Lampard, Chelsea are now seven points adrift of league leaders Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester City.
