Fried throws 90 pitching vs. BAL

BALTIMORE – Travis d’Arnaud celebrated his new contract by connecting a two-run homer, Jorge Soler contributed another home run and the Atlanta Braves whitewashed Friday 3-0 at the Baltimore Orioles, extending to seven the number of consecutive victories.

In contrast, the Orioles suffered their 16th stumble in a row.

Max Fried (11-7) tolerated 4 hits in what was the first full game of nine innings in his career. The Braves, leaders of the Eastern Division of the National League, equaled a record of the tax exemption in the modern era during a single campaign, when embarking their eleventh triumph in other people’s park.

The last time this had happened was in 1956, when the team was playing in Milwaukee.

Baltimore’s losing streak is his second longest since 1954, when he moved from St. Louis. It is only surpassed by that of the 1988 team, which began the campaign with a disastrous 0-21 record.

Hours before the game, D’Arnaud signed a two-year, $ 16 million contract extension, which includes an alternative for the club to renew for one more season in 2024.

The catcher immediately rewarded the Braves by connecting his home run in the second inning to Keegan Akin (0-8), to place the board 2-0, after a single by Dansby Swanson.

“I told him after the game,‘ You’re worth every penny of your contract, ’” Braves manager Brian Snitker recounted. “You also have to see the work he did with Max.”

D’Arnaud was fascinated to be Fried’s fellow drummer, who was inspired. He opined that this made the night even more special.

“It drives me a little crazy. We had put ourselves at a 2-0 disadvantage and that was all we needed,” he commented. “It was really a really fun day.”

For the Braves, the Cubans Soler 4-1 with a score and a push, Guillermo Heredia 4-0.

For the Orioles, the Dominicans Pere Severino 3-0, Jorge Mateu 3-1, Maikel Franco 3-0. The Mexican Ramón Uries 3-0.
