Frozen and slippery conditions are expected for the holiday weekend in New York, New York

Ice, sleet and snow could freeze on the long weekend of Presidents ’Day in the three-state zone, forecasts say, with some of the worst weather coming Sunday morning just in time for Valentine’s Day.

A winter weather warning is in effect for central and southern New Jersey, but forecasts say the entire region is in disarray as a winter system is installed from the south in the afternoon.

“It could bring a mixture of sleet, icy rain and even some snow to the area. Starting tomorrow late in the day and into the evening until Sunday morning before it’s over, ”said Accuweather senior meteorologist Alan Reppert.

There won’t be much snow accumulation, but the messy rainfall combined with the continued temperature of the 1920s could make New Yorkers think twice about a Valentine’s Day excursion, forecasts added.

It will be rain and icy sleet [Sunday] in the morning, so this will lead to poor travel conditions, Reppert said.

A more inclement weather is preparing for Presidents ’Day on Monday, with snow and frost arriving in the city in the afternoon and staying until Tuesday morning, according to Accuweather’s forecast.

Warmer temperatures and clear conditions are expected in the middle of the week, with the possibility of more snow on Thursday.
