Frustration is mounting among Pennsylvania residents trying to find the COVID-19 vaccine

EXTON, PA (WPVI) – On Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health launched the “Your Turn” vaccine eligibility tool, which aims to help people understand where they stand on the priority line of the vaccine. However, some Pennsylvanians claim that the problem is not being able to find a vaccine.

“I first tried the number they give you. It rang and rang,” said Gigi Lewis of West Oak Lane. “He responded and then clicked. Then I said, ‘Okay, we’ll go online.’ (I) went online, filled out the form and was told I’d be on the waiting list, that someone “I would never hear from anyone again. It’s been a month.”

Thousands of Pennsylvanians have joined the Facebook group called PA COVID Vaccine Match Maker, where members share tips on how to vaccinate Phase 1A individuals.

Exton Internal Medicine doctor Christine Meyer set up the Facebook group and said her office has received thousands of emails and hundreds of phone calls from people asking for the vaccine.

“There is a treatment. What they ask for exists, it’s amazing, it saves lives and it happens and in areas outside of ours, it’s not that difficult,” he said.

Meyer said members help each other find vaccine appointments and share information, such as when pharmacies have appointment openings.

“It’s a crowdsourcing area where people just post their tips and tricks for success,” Meyer said.

6abc Action News has found the latest vaccine numbers:

Pennsylvania

– 1,049,609 people received their first dose
– 302,639 people have received their second dose

New Jersey

– 842,971 people have received their first dose
– 242,362 people have received their second dose

Delaware

– 126,615 people have received a vaccine (no additional data)

On Tuesday, Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said things were getting better.

“This week we received 10,700 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and the Modern vaccine allocation is 14,400, from just over 10,000 before,” Farley said.

Farley said the city of Philadelphia does not want to create a stadium vaccination site for Delaware and New Jersey residents to take advantage of the site. In the past, Mayor Jim Kenney said a vaccination site to drive vehicles limits residents who don’t have cars.

The federal government also donated more than $ 1.6 million to Pennsylvania to create mass vaccination sites.
