Funimation will be launched as the only anime streaming app on Nintendo Switch

Funimation will be launched as the only anime streaming app on Nintendo Switch. After a cryptic mockery in which Funimation first indicated a collaboration with the Nintendo Switch console, Funimation has officially announced that fans will be able to check out the anime streaming app on the console starting Tuesday, May 15th. December. It will be available to fans in the United States and Canada with plans to expand to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Mexico and other countries in the coming months. According to the Funimation press release, this will make it the only anime application on the console.

Funimation product manager Kaliel Roberts said the following about the announcement: “We will always go where the community wants their anime and Funimation is 100% committed to listening to and serving fans on all platforms. When Nintendo Switch it was a possibility in front of us, we were a resounding ‘absolutely’ with the opportunity to serve the fans even more. ” Below you can see a video breakdown of the ad:

“Our teams approached the partnership with a shared goal to create a unique and engaging application experience for anime fans,” says Roberts. “This passionate approach paid off with an engaging and immersive point of contact that has been designed specifically for our audience.” With Funimation coming to Nintendo Switch, it will be available on all gaming consoles of the current generation after its releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

Funimation has been a huge month as they have also previously announced that the company has also acquired Crunchyroll. More details of this acquisition will be revealed later, but soon Nintendo Switch fans will be able to check out a huge anime library on the go next to their game library.
