FIRST ON FOX: Utah police have confirmed that officers were called in for an incident involving Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito about two weeks before they were last seen and a month before their official report.
“Our officers responded to an incident involving Brian Laundrie and Gabrielle Petito on August 12, 2021, however, neither Brian nor Gabrielle were the informants,” the Moab police chief told Fox News on Tuesday. , Bret Edge. “Officers conducted an investigation and determined that there was insufficient evidence to justify the criminal charges.”

Additional details were not immediately available.
Petito’s mother, 22, reported her missing on Sept. 11, but by the last week of August they had already spoken for the last time. She was last seen in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.
The couple was traveling around the country in their Ford Transit van and shared photos and videos on social media. On August 12, Petito published images taken in Arches National Park, just north of Moab.

Laundrie has not been charged with a felony or charged with playing a role in Petito’s disappearance, but police in his hometown, North Port, Florida, told Fox News Tuesday that they want to talk to him about the case.
“I think someone would assume that the last person who could be around you is a person of interest you want to talk to,” a spokesman said. “However, there is no crime at this time.”
Laundrie has hired a lawyer and is back in Florida, with Petito’s van, as a search is underway in Wyoming. The family of the missing woman says she refused to tell them where she last saw her.

Police seized the van Monday as part of their investigation, which involves police agencies from several states and the FBI, the latter began a forensic examination of the vehicle on Tuesday, North Police told Fox News Port.
