MUMBAI: Mumbai police issued a notice on Thursday that Ganpati ‘Mukh Darshan’ or visiting pandals in person for darshan during Ganeshotsav will be banned on September 10 and 19.
The notification was signed by Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations and Police Spokesman S Chaitanya. It will be applicable within the jurisdiction of the Bombay Police Station.
“More than five people will be prohibited from meeting in public places between September 10 and 19. Processions will not be allowed. Violation of this order will invite action in accordance with Article 188 of the Penal Code of the ‘India and other relevant laws,’ the notification said. .
The state start-up department already issued instructions, in a separate order on Sept. 8, that only online darshan or darshan through electronic means would be allowed.
