The mayor says the terrible outlook comes down to a supply and demand problem.
“If you do the calculation of what the county gets each week (about 160,000) and just look at the number of health workers and the elderly, we won’t get it until June (2021),” he said.
However, Garcetti stresses that the pace will not be maintained as it is, especially if the use of other COVID-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson is allowed, which only require one dose.

Up to 12,000 doses a day can be administered at the Dodger Stadium vaccination site. But a week after the stadium parking lot went from a test site to a vaccination site, there are only 2,000 daily doses available.
Despite supply constraints, more than 46,000 people were vaccinated this week at the five vaccination sites managed by the city, an increase of 90% over last week. More than 80,000 people have been inoculated at the city’s vaccination sites.
A waiting time of five hours was reported at Dodger Stadium, as eligible Angelenos go to the vaccine site with the most capacity in the country.
Officials say extensive planning was done to ensure the location worked smoothly and effectively, but distribution issues are affecting the site.
Several people said they waited up to five hours on Wednesday to be inoculated. AIR7 HD was above the location, as a handful of cars remained in line at 11pm, three hours after the official closing of the site.
However, on Thursday afternoons the waiting times had improved significantly.
Meanwhile, by the end of Friday, the city of Los Angeles will have finished offering COVID-19 vaccines to all residents of specialist nurses.

The mayor said that at the start of the pandemic, 45% of coronavirus deaths were from vulnerable residents of these facilities.
“Too many people are still dying and with roots of more contagious variants of COVID-19, which may contribute to the reason we had this rise in December, there is no more urgent task than getting this site and other places like this will continue to vaccinate our residents, ”Garcetti said.
