Gati Shakti master plan: will be presented in September India Business News

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious 100 lakh Gati Shakti master plan, which will offer multimodal connectivity to more than 1,200 industrial clusters, including two defense corridors across the country, will be unveiled next month as part of a plan to reduce logistics costs and provide better connectivity.
According to sources, these clusters include food processing parks, electronics and computers, pharmaceutical and medical devices, fishing clusters and ports, as well as textile megaparks. The “PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multimodal Infrastructure Connectivity in Economic Zones” with the “Gati se Shakti” label line will include projects under existing flagship schemes of different ministries like Bharatmala, Sagarmala, Udaan, enlargement of the railway network, inland waterways and Bharat Net.

The high cost of supply chain and logistics make Indian products less competitive in the world market. The current supply chain and logistics costs in India account for about 14% of the country’s GDP compared to the world average of about 8%.
On August 15, Modi had announced that the total size of the Gati Shakti project will be 100 lakh to develop holistic infrastructure. The aim of the project will be to improve efficiency by optimizing the necessary infrastructure, which will help reduce logistics costs. Although the project will be led by the logistics division of the Ministry of Commerce, there will be a group of trained secretaries led by the Secretary of the Cabinet to see the implementation of this major initiative.
