The neo-progressive representative Jordi “Georgie” Navarro Suárez proposed to the Legislative Assembly the creation of a special paid license for employees who are vaccinated against COVID-19.
The legislation, which if passed would be known as the VOCID-19 Special Vaccination License Act, proposes up to five days for each dose of the vaccine administered to the employee and up to five days to accompany the their children or minor dependents to authorize their vaccination.
According to the bill, the days that would be granted with the special license may be claimed by the employee if he has worked for at least six months for his employer.
“The use of this special license is considered time worked for the purpose of accumulating all benefits as an employee,” the measure states.
For its part, the employer may require the employee to provide evidence of vaccination.
The measure further argues that the secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources will have the power to impose penalties of up to $ 2,000 on employers who fail to comply with the benefit.
