With the Terminator and the Predator making an entry into Fortnite, it wouldn’t seem too unrealistic to expect another popular 80s movie franchise to debut in the popular Battle Royale game.
It all started with the publication of HYPEXIC on Twitter containing the image of a new portal that will open on Fortnite Island. This was found in the source code of the game.
Then, a few hours later, Fortnite’s official Twitter account posted an audio clip of Jonesy (a leading Fortnite character who is currently seeking help from different universes as part of the game’s “Zero Point” narrative) sitting to try to activate an old, dusty PC.
As you can see, this broadcast is labeled “Reality Log MCP-82” and, as movie buffs know, MCP means “Master Control Program” at Disney’s Tron series, while 82 represent the year in which the original Tron film was released. “They fight for users” clearly refers to the Tron character in the same film.
Tron got a sequel in 2010 titled Tron Legacy, which featured an amazing soundtrack by the French duo Daft Punk. A television series, called Tron: Revolt, arrived in 2012 and, more recently, it was reported that a new film is in development, with Jared Leto involved.
So what do you think of Tron coming to Fortnite? Let us know with a comment below.
