The pig is in The Poke
Now I know you’ve been waiting for it. Today Guilty Gear Strive The Arc System Works Getting Started Guide gives us our first in-depth look at a favorite, brand new, and already amateur character, Giovanna, who will debut in her series when GG Strive launches this spring.
The new and attractive fighter may seem to have come off the catwalks of Milan, but she is, in fact, a federal agent in charge of making bodyguards some of the highest-ranking officers on the planet. Don’t let this take you away from her, as Giovanna maintains her magnetism with a fantastic attitude and a Good Boy named King, a spiritual wolf who complements Giovanna’s acrobatic fighting style.
Designed as a character for beginners, Giovanna strangely dodges projectiles, struggling with a series of familiar stitch attacks. Giovanna has variations on Guile’s Flash Kick, Terry Bogard’s Crack Shoot, and even Chun Li’s Spunning Bird Kick. To avoid being zoned, Giovanna can launch a Cannon Spike-like attack that kills fireballs. Without projectiles, it is up to the players to press the opponent with an active forward progression, before mixing them with a variety of flashy combos and throws. From this video, I am one little I’m worried about Giovanna’s range and choices compared to other characters, but of course it’s the early days, so we’ll see. And we’ll see, as you can warranty a real circus of Giovannas online as a beta.
