General Motors Co. said Thursday it aspires to offer only electric vehicles in 15 years on its way to becoming a carbon-free company by 2040.
GM said it has worked with the nonprofit Environmental Protection Fund “to develop a shared vision of a fully electric future and an aspiration to eliminate emissions pipe emissions from new light vehicles by 2035.”
The aim is to focus on zero-emission vehicles at various prices and work with others, including EDF, to: build cargo networks and promote consumer acceptance “while maintaining high quality jobs, which will all be necessary to meet those goals, ”GM said.

Earlier this year, GM said it will offer 30 all-electric models worldwide by the middle of the decade and that 40% of the company’s US models will be battery-powered electric vehicles by the end of 2025.
The automaker is investing $ 27 billion in electric and autonomous vehicles in the next five years, up from the $ 20 billion forecast before the COVID-19 pandemic. Plans also include efficiency gains in the consumption of vehicles with internal combustion engines.
