PlayStation revealed the first real trailer for the next one God of War Ragnarok at last week’s PlayStation Showcase 2021 and in addition to the trailer, a lot of new information was shared about the new God of War video game, such as the first look at Thor’s design. As part of an interview published after the revelation, God of War Ragnarok director Eric Williams and creative director Cory Barlog delved into the design of the new character
In particular, God of War RagnarokThor’s description differs quite significantly from what is possibly the current version of Thor in popular culture that jumps to the forefront of most people’s minds: the Thor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth on the screen. Thor of the video game doesn’t have as many sculpted abs or a chiseled jaw line, but he’s a fat, stocky man with a big belly. As expected, it was very intentional. “Well, I don’t know, we just want him to be a big guy, you know. There’s an interpretation that Marvel makes of him. It’s interesting. We wanted, you know, to dig a little deeper into the same mythology,” Williams said. he told Game Informer when asked about how they landed on Thor’s design.
“They are present immediately,” Williams added of people in his life who have a similar height and structure. God of War RagnarokThor. “And it’s not always because of the muscles. They’re like a wall of a human being, you know. So it’s a wall of a God, you know, and that’s why it was so important.”
“I think there’s something so fantastic about that not everything has to be this shiny muscle concept, even if it’s fantastic, powerful, and intimidating,” Barlog said as part of the interview itself.
