Over a one-month period ending in late November, Google released updated logos for the vast majority of workspace applications. Google Tasks was left out of the list, but is now being corrected with a new icon.
Like Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and everything else today, the new Google Tasks icon is flat. Previously, the dot and pill that formed the check mark presented a shadow.
The new logo drops the blue circular background of a ring. As a result, there is a standard centered selection mark that breaks the circle with the overlapping area a little darker.
We’ve updated the Google Tasks logo to better align with Google Workspace products.
Google says the new Tasks logo will appear on the web (the add-on sidebar in Gmail and other services) and on your mobile devices. Calendar technically already has a variant of the updated look.
Available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers

After Gmail, Drive, and Keep, Google’s tasks should also be on track to get a renewal of the material that introduces mainly dynamic color support (in Pixel) and a new rounded square FAB.
It will begin rolling out on September 23 and will be fully available in the coming weeks:
