Gord is a fantasy city builder looking for “adventure strategy”

Although my city will deteriorate rapidly and my tribe probably will not survive, I will try my luck

We will never run out of city builders or management games, but what about something like that Gord? It immediately stands out for its roots in Slavic folklore, a premise geared towards survival and the ability to go out on missions. This is not a game with which to relax peacefully, this is true.

As your settlement grows, you will have to entangle yourself with threats on various fronts: other tribes, strange beasts, famine and disease, sinking sanity, and even monstrous gods, who can bestow enchantments on your people. (I am willing to do potentially unspeakable acts to win powerful spells.) Taken together, Gord it looks like it will be in a head space similar to that of games Frostpunk, RimWorld, i Darker dungeon.

About these missions – Gord uses an “AI-based” system, according to Covenant.dev. “The main objectives will guide your game, while versatile side missions and random encounters will send you into the desert to hunt a legendary creature or fight a nasty scourge that has infected the region.”

I also like the sound of custom scenarios in which “almost anything can be adjusted”. This feeling arises from a perspective of keeping them — fresh — over time, and also from the desire to win eventually with the annoying reduced things; Don’t starve comes to mind. In Gord, we will be able to change elements like “the size of the level, the intensity of the incursions, the environment where it will play, the types of enemies that you will face, the initial resources and even the severity of the time. Of course, no forget the horrors “.

The studio, founded by CD Projekt Red and 11-bit studio producer Stan Just, is expected to launch in 2022 for PC Gord and Steam. We will be watching, for sure. There are many things to like in this first exhibition.

Go ahead and want the game on Steam as needed (or just want it in your heart).
