This is the seventh increase in the price of fuels so far this year. The increase is due to higher demand for oil and a cut in production agreed by OPEC.
There is no good news for motorists this week. The Economy Ministry announced Monday that gasoline and diesel will have a significant increase of up to $ 0.17 per gallon at gas stations.
This is the seventh consecutive rise in the price of fuel recorded so far this year, which is already beginning to impact sectors such as taxi drivers and formal and informal freight transport.
According to the new reference prices that will be in force from this Tuesday, the top gasoline will increase $ 0.17 / gallon in the central and western areas of the country, while in the eastern area it will increase $ 0.16 / gallon.
Regular gasoline will increase $ 0.17 / gallon in the central and western areas of the country, in the eastern area it will increase $ 0.16 / gallon while low-sulfur diesel will increase $ 0.08 / gallon in the central part of the country, in the western and eastern areas will increase $ 0.07 / gallon.
With these new prices the gallon of special gasoline rises to $ 3.60 in the central area, $ 3.61 in the western area and up to $ 3.64 in the eastern area.
15 days ago the per gallon increase reached $ 0.20.
Other prices per gallon of regular gasoline and diesel also hover between $ 2.98 and $ 3.47 its maximum.
Do you know what the four taxes you pay for each gallon of fuel?
According to Economics, the rise is mainly due to three factors:
* Widespread losses during March to strategic oil reserves, reported by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
* The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) predicts growth in demand for oil and derivatives.
* Losses in the purchase value of the dollar against other currencies.
According to Economy, the prices that are published are suggested and service stations are the ones that establish them, according to supply and demand. In El Salvador, liquid fuel prices are liberalized.
