Governor DeSantis extends the state of emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis extended the state of emergency of the coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday for another 60 days.

“As Florida recovers and revives its economy, I pledge to provide all available resources to help Floridians and local communities with their efforts,” the order said Tuesday.

The extension kept Jared Moskowitz, director of the Emergency Management Division, as coordinator of the state’s response to the pandemic.

With an initial release released on March 9, DeSantis ’orders have allowed the governor to direct funds when needed for supplies, equipment and personnel, allow out-of-state medical professionals to practice in Florida, and allow pharmacists to prescribe up to 30 days of emergency prescription drug spares.

An earlier extension was issued on November 3rd.
