A person familiar with the investigation told the newspaper that the call would be “watched”, but warned that little is known about the call or whether it violated any law.

Kevin Bishop, a spokesman for Graham, told The Hill in statements “it’s a ridiculous accusation that will be considered ridiculous.”

“Senator Graham asked about how the signature verification process worked. He never asked the secretary of state to disqualify a ballot issued by anyone, “Bishop said.” The time when this is also curious. It seems to be a less transparent effort to marginalize anyone who helps President Trump. ”

A Willis spokesman told the Post that the office is investigating all attempts to unduly influence the administration of the election.

Raffensperger he told the Post in November that Graham asked him if he had authority to cast ballots in counties with high matching signature rates. Raffensperger also said Graham questioned whether survey workers had accepted ballots with mismatched signatures.

Graham, a staunch ally of Trump, later refused to press Raffensperger did anything illegal and insisted he wanted to learn more about the process.

Willis announced the investigation Wednesday and instructed state officials to keep records of Trump’s January 2 call with Raffensperger, in which then-president told Raffensperger to “find” 11,780 votes, enough to override President BidenJoe BidenGraham’s post-election call with Georgia’s secretary of state will be investigated: Night Defense report: Pentagon and Congress appoint panel members to rename Confederate bases | The military approves 20 more coronavirus vaccination teams Lawmakers applaud officer Eugene Goodman MOREthe victory in Georgia.

Biden narrowly won Georgia in the election, making him the first Democratic presidential candidate to lead the state since 1992. The state was often a target for Trump and his allies after the elections when disputing the results.

Trump faces a lawsuit for an indictment of inciting the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol that disrupted Biden Electoral College victory certification.
