GT Sport was an amazing game and successfully transformed Gran Turismo into a viable and popular e-sport, but for fans of the long franchise it had no significant single-player content. With the release of Gran Turismo 7, developer Polyphony Digital goes back a long way to the origins of the series, with the GT Campaign.
It is anchored in a three-dimensional map, where you can buy cars, perform license tests and more. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi explains, “The GT Campaign mode is a place where individual players will make their own journeys and gain life-learning experiences.” You will compete in various events around the world, including – hopefully – the Weekend Cup.

But the CaRPG doesn’t end there: it will also fine-tune the vehicles, clean them in the car wash, and pick them up at the GT Café. It almost sounds a bit like the card collection in sports games like Ultimate Team – you’ll be tasked with completing “collections,” like Japanese compact cars, to win prizes and rewards for the game.
This is setting up very well: we’re sure it will include all the industry-leading online items popularized by GT Sport, but it adds all the classic campaign content. We are confident that Polyphony Digital will continue to improve and iterate the game throughout the generation, so that it could comfortably become the ultimate PS5 simulation runner.
