Antonio Sabato Sr. has died at the age of 77 from complications of COVID-19, after testing positive for the virus earlier this month.

The son of Italian-American actor Antonio Sabato Jr., 48, confirmed the news of his father’s death in a message shared on Twitter on January 6th.

Antonio was best known for his roles in Escape From The Bronx and Grand Prix, which earned him a nomination for New Star of the Year at the 1967 Golden Globes.

Antonio Sabato Jr., who was continuously on Twitter to update fans about his father’s illness, paid tribute to his father by posting an old family photo on Twitter on Wednesday.

“Hello Papa,” wrote Sabato Jr., known for his role in the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.

In a follow-up tweet, the star noted that he would love and miss his father “Forever and Forever,” while continuing to mourn the late actor.

Days before his passing, Sabato Jr. begged his Twitter followers to “make a prayer please” [his] father, ”while battling COVID-19 at an intensive care unit in California.

On January 5, the actor returned to Twitter to then give him a new update that highlighted the seriousness of his father’s condition.

“My father / father fights for his life and doesn’t do good and we can’t even see him or be by his side.”

Young Sabato, who is an avid supporter of Trump, has publicly expressed his views against masks when it comes to the approaching coronavirus.

He went on to share a photo of himself and Trump and wrote, “He’s my biggest president actually and he will technically lead our country and the world for the next 4 years!” Even though Trump lost the election.

The actor, who is considered a member of the Patriotic Party, continued to argue with the suspension of Trump’s Twitter account while saying:

“You evil evil Twitter jacka ** es. Please suspend all of us who support The Greatest President in History @realdonaldtrump and be on the lookout. Have fun. ‘

He proceeded to rabies about the fact that President-elect Joe Biden called him “a fraud and a liar and a disgrace just like his friends Twitter Facebook Ig,” while adding “TRUMP WON BY A LANDSLIDE.”
