Nine Greenpeace activists were arrested on Friday for painting part of an Air France plane inside an airport green, in a protest that raised security concerns.
Paris Airports (ADP), the entity in charge of airports in the French capital, said activists entered Charles de Gaulle Airport by climbing a fence on the runway.
With an outstretched roller, they painted one side of an airline Boeing 777, which was parked without passengers, and then boarded the aircraft. Several activists refused to disembark despite orders from security personnel.
ADP said the activists “were immediately intercepted and contained by police. They were therefore unable to access the runways. Civil aviation was not exposed to any risk and air traffic continues normally.”

Greenpeace said the aim of the protest was to draw attention to the “eco-laundering” of climate change and environmental regulations. He also said that it was organized in the face of a debate on a climate law in the French parliament.
“We would like to remind you firmly that the technological innovations so praised by the Minister of Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, will not be enough to curb the climate crisis,” the group said on Twitter.
The National Airline Pilots Guild condemned the incident and defended the aviation industry against activist allegations. “Today, companies buy aircraft that consume between 2 and 3 liters per passenger per 100 kilometers, which is the consumption of a hybrid car,” he stated.
