In November, world leaders will head down to Glasgow, Scotland, for the UN climate conference, but the world’s most famous climate activist, Greta Thunberg, has absolutely no intention of being there. In a Friday morning on Twitter The 18-year-old said she would love to “attend” the conference, but refused to do so when the global deployment of vaccines is so uneven. “Climate inequality and injustice are already at the heart of the climate crisis,” he wrote. “If people can’t get vaccinated and travel is represented equally, that’s undemocratic and it would make the problem worse.” Thunberg said the British government should delay the conference until a majority of the world’s population has access to vaccines. “We don’t have to wait for conferences or anyone or anything else to start drastically reducing our emissions.” she wrote. The British media have reported that the conference could be postponed until 2022, but the government is firm that up to 30,000 people could attend.
