ADVENTURE, Fla. – Researchers are learning more about how vitamin D deficiency could play a role in COVID infections.
”A new study came out that shows that people with severe complications of COVID and low levels of vitamin D. Normal levels of vitamin D should be around 30 and these people had levels below 20. (The study) when people had vitamin D supplementation and it is very easy to supplement, they had better results, ”said Dr. Cardiologist Leonard Pianko.
Pianko said a simple blood test can determine if vitamin D levels are low and need to be increased, either with supplements or with safe outdoor activity.
Sun exposure naturally increases vitamin D levels.
Pianko said insulation inside during the pandemic may be one reason many people have little vitamin.
And, while efforts to vaccinate people against VOCID = 19 are intensifying, experts warn that potential protection is not immediate.
Some health workers have reported that they are still infected with COVID-19 even after vaccination.
Health officials said this is because protection against the vaccine can take up to two weeks to begin.
This means that people should continue to walk away safely, wash their hands routinely, and use facial coatings even after getting vaccinated.
