A new Caribbean island has arrived on GTA Online with the release of The Key Perico Heist today, which invites us to completely rinse off the El Rubio drug deal. Yes, unfortunately, their holiday island is just a theft, not a place we can visit at any time. However, it is an intriguing robbery that we can complete alone for once. And we get our own submarine. In addition, Dr. appears. Dre for about 30 seconds.
The Cayo Perico Heist takes place on a private Caribbean island, where he finds a drug lord who thinks it’s a lot of fun and certainly not terrifying. They send us to get some sensitive data, but we sure won’t go away with just that. Some people had hoped Rockstar would leave everyone on the island to joke in the open world, but no, we can only go to the robbery. I never expected it to be part of the free roaming, but, well, I wouldn’t have cared if it was a surprise.
Lots of cut scenes in this one. I logged in when the update arrived this morning to check the settings. Time! We are working with Miguel Madrazo, son of Martin (for whom we have worked a lot) and Patricia (with whom Trevor fell in love). It’s the hip, cool, 2.0 face of organized crime, the git that talks about hydration and brand diversification. No, he really tells his mother to hydrate:
To extract your data from El Rubio, we head to the island of Cayo Perico. Since Rockstar can’t add new crimes without making us buy something expensive, we’ll need a submarine. It costs $ 2.2 million, which almost knocked me out. The submarine is a small base in itself, but we can actually drive it. It’s not fast, but it’s mobile. It has torpedoes too. And with the sonar upgrade, you can navigate the sea in search of sunken XP suitcases and cash (the one I found contained about $ 7,000). But why do we really need a submarine? Because it will be our criminal base for theft, with the help of this type:
We don’t take the submarine to get there, mind you. We will go undercover to the party island as a tour manager, and then we will take this opportunity to see well everything we want to do. So let’s wait on a waiting plane, this is Dr. Dre. Dre just shows up in this GTA steal to say hello and show up. What. How. Because. Well!
The theft sounds pretty interesting. The Rockstar announcement explains that, once again, we will have many different approaches available, depending on how much recognition we do. This can change the way we get in and out of the island and open up good practices for us, as well as air support. And while we look for a high score, it’s possible that many other smaller thefts can be found at random locations around the site. For once, we can do the whole host alone, if we want.
None of my crimepals are already playing and pubs are a nightmare, so I’m looking forward to trying them out. I didn’t have time to do a full robbery, but I got to sneak into the party and dodge the guards around the island. I will definitely be back to finish.
The update adds a lot more. New radio stations with new music! New music for some old stations (unfortunately not Non-Stop Pop). New missions for new DJs in a new nightclub! New clothes! New weapons! New boats! New plane! New cars! And a free go-kart if you sign up this weekend. I have to go see these new looks after the Cyberpunk 2077 fashion disasters.
Disclosure: I have friends who work at Rockstar, which is almost inevitable for Edinburgh residents.
