The long-awaited open version of Guilty Gear Strive has finally arrived, and Arc System Works has been capturing people on how to play all the characters inside it to this point.
Now, they have released the initial guide reviewing the mechanics and basic systems available in Strive, including the new Roman Cancel, as professional gamers and streamers had access to the beta to showcase the fighting game in action.
There are obvious things, like protecting yourself from the moves, though some may joke about blocking being something new in Guilty Gear, but there are more interesting aspects than the basics.
Instant Block and Faultless Defense return to Strive in the same way they worked in previous games, though there seems to be a new layer to combine the two together.
While IB reduces backlash, flawless Instant Defense leads to chip damage negation and further backlash from FD at the expense of the meter, making it even more effective.
Roman cancellations change slightly from previous games, as Yellow is now used for defensive purposes, while Purple seems to have combined with what Yellow was doing before it started.
The most interesting and exciting change to the iconic system is the new mechanics that allow players to move a remarkable distance when activated when a script is entered directly before the RC, which opens the door to a lot of new possibilities.
Prior to pre-orders and the general population diving online, Arc System Works delivered the first beta codes to the biggest streamers and best FGC players to display matches in real time.
General gamers will be able to download the beta client on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 starting Feb. 18 at 7 p.m., while those who pre-order a digital copy can get them the day before.
From the time of reporting, the servers are back offline, but are scheduled to return later today, so archive footage can be found on Twitch for players like Maximilian_Dood, Panda | Justin Wong, Jiyuna, Kizzie Kay, EG | SonicFox and pretty much more than anyone else would expect to enter.
