Gujarat BJP may meet on Sunday to elect new chief minister News from India

NEW DELHI: Gujarat BJP legislative party is likely to hold talks on Sunday to end Gujarat’s next chief minister following the unexpected resignation of Vijay Rupani.
Union Interior Minister Amit Shah may attend the meeting along with central observers, BJP state spokesman Yamal Vyas said.

Earlier, Rupani announced that he was stepping down as Prime Minister of Gujarat and thanked the party leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of the state. His resignation comes a year before the state assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Vyas said all BJP MPs have been asked to attend the legislature meeting.
Meanwhile, BJP Secretary General BL Santhosh and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav met with BJP leaders in Gujarat, including head of state unit CR Paatil, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, ministers Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and Pradipsinh Jadeja, BJP general secretaries Pradipsinh Vaghela and Rajubhai Patel, and the party leader. whip in the Pankaj Desai assembly.
Gujarat MP CM Nitin Patel, State Agriculture Minister RC Faldu, and Union Ministers Purshottam Rupala and Mansukh Mandaviya are making rounds amid speculation about who will succeed Vijay Rupani as minister in head of Gujarat.
