QUETTA: A suicide attack on a vehicle carrying Chinese nationals in southwest Pakistan killed two children and injured three on Friday, police officials said.
There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attack.
“Two children have been killed and three injured in the attack,” Liaquat Shahwani, a Balochistan government spokesman, told Reuters.
The suicide bombing took place on East Bay Road, in the port city of Gwadar, around 7 p.m. Chinese citizens suffered minor injuries, according to a police statement.
Gwadar is located in the southwestern province of Baluchistan, where separatist militants have fought a long-standing insurgency.
The attack came after the bus attack in the northwestern Pakistani province of Khyber-Paktunkhwa, in which 13 people were killed, including nine Chinese workers and two Pakistani soldiers, earlier this month.
China is heavily involved in the development of the port of Gwadar in the Arabian Sea as part of a $ 60 billion China-Pakistan economic corridor, which is part of the belt and road infrastructure project. China.
