Microsoft and 343 Industries announced today that co-op campaign mode and Forge mode will not be available in Halo Infinite at launch. Instead, they will be added to the game next year. They also promised bigger and bigger flights to try out modes like Big Team Battle. And no, we don’t have a release date yet.
In accordance with Hello Infinity head of creative Joseph Staten, the lack of campaign and Forge mode cooperatives was a difficult decision to make. But neither was ready for the launch, as the team began to finish the development phase.
“Unfortunately, as we focused the team on the closure and focused on a quality experience for the launch, we made a very tough decision to delay the launch of the shipping campaign cooperative. And we also did the harsh call to delay Forge’s shipment after launch, ”Staten said.
Staten explained that he is expected to arrive at the campaign cooperative Infinity in the second season, about three months after the release. Forge will continue in the third season, about six months after the release. While many of the 343, including Staten, are aware of how disappointing this choice could be for fans, the alternative would probably have had a worse reaction.
Staten explained in a development update video released Friday that the team had serious discussions delaying the game, again, but decided to focus on finishing the solo campaign and the first season of free multiplayer to play and relying on the live service system to upgrade the game later.
