Convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein says he never assaulted Angelina Jolie after in a new interview she claimed she had to escape a meeting with the disgraced film mogul.
“There has NEVER BEEN any aggression and NEVER an attempt at aggression,” Weinstein responded Saturday, who is currently serving a 23-year sentence for rape and battery.
“It’s blatantly fake, nailed advertising,” the statement continued. “You are Angelina Jolie, I am sure that all men and women in the world show interest in you. Does everyone attack you? “
Weinstein’s heated response comes after the actress described her alleged previous experience with him as “beyond a pass” while promoting her upcoming book “Know Your Rights” to The Guardian in an interview published Saturday.
“I’m very clear to myself that this is more sales in Angie’s book,” Weinstein added in his statement.
In the interview, Jolie, who starred in Weinstein’s “Playing By Heart” when she was 21, said she told her first husband, Jonny Lee Miller, about the alleged incident.
“I stayed away and warned people about him. I remember telling Jonny, my first husband, that he was very good at it, to spread the word to other boys: don’t let the girls go alone with him, ”Jolie shared.
He added that he was asked to do “The Aviator” from 2004, but said no because Weinstein was involved.
Jolie’s claims about Weinstein came out as she discussed the ongoing problems she had with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, which eventually ended her marriage.
The “Maleficent” star claims that Pitt asked Weinstein to be the producer of his film “Killing Them Softly”, a film that The Weinstein Company later distributed.
“We fought for Weinstein’s involvement,” Jolie shared. “Of course it hurt.”
However, another of Pitt’s exes, Gwyneth Paltrow, had a completely different experience after Weinstein allegedly invited the young actress, who was then only 22, to his hotel room and suggested he massage her in the bedroom. .
Pitt allegedly confronted Weinstein at a movie premiere and physically threatened the producer, who at the time posed a major risk to the next actor.
Plan B productions, Pitt’s company, is also working on a film about New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, who helped end Weinstein with his Pulitzer Prize-winning reportage.
Jolie first spoke about the alleged incident with Weinstein in the NYT’s 2017 report, claiming he had made “unwanted advances” toward her in a hotel room.
“I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, I chose to never work with him again and warn others when they did,” Jolie told the Times in an email. “This behavior towards women in any field and country is unacceptable.”
