Casey Bloys, content director for HBO and HBO Max, made the announcement Tuesday during a Questions and Answers at Variety’s Virtual FYCFest, saying the network was talking to Dave and that the conversation led to the decision to withdraw the show in late December. ‘year.

She said: “We’ve had a conversation with Dave. I won’t go into it, but it’s very clear that he has a very unique, specific and emotional topic.” He added: “So, at the end of the year, on December 31, we will respect your request and withdraw the program.”

It was just last month when Chappelle revealed in a stand-up segment that he called Netflix honchos and explained to them his discomfort with them streaming his program.

Dave got angry because he says he has nothing to say about where the show airs or has any rights over the revenue it airs … because it belongs to Comedy Central and its parent company, Viacom. He admits that he signed an agreement years ago – before his current success and power – that allowed Viacom to do what it wants, but now he is asking … right?

In this same segment … Chappelle told a story about presenting his show on HBO years ago, and they essentially made him laugh out of the room.

Chappelle recalled, “They literally said,‘ What do we need you for? That’s what they told me when I was kicked out of the office, why do we need you? “And here we are all these years later and they broadcast the same show I presented to them. So I ask them, why do you need me?”
