Authorities reported the arrest on Thursday night of Gabriel Santiago Andino, who is accused of shooting two municipal police officers on February 3 in Toa Alta.
According to the police report, Santiago Andino, 19, was arrested at around 11:00 on Thursday night in the San Jose neighborhood in Toa Alta.
The subject had been ordered in absentia on an arrest warrant with a global bail of $ 1.4 million, for violating the articles of attempted murder, gun law and controlled substances law.
According to authorities, on February 3, officers from the Puerto Rico Police Bargain entered the residential Ramon Pérez in Toa Alta, to corroborate information and interview a person of interest. Mr. Santiago Andino noticed the presence of the police and with a firearm fired two shots at a lieutenant and a sergeant of the municipal police of Toa Alta. The sergeant was shot in the left hip.
Officer José Ortiz assigned to the Bayamón Special Detention Division made the arrest, under the supervision of Sergeant George Marrero of the Comprehensive Citizen Security Plan.
