Health begins VacuTour to vaccinate COVID-19 into the elderly

In an effort to advance the vaccination of thousands of more people around the island, the Department of Health in partnership with VOICES Coalition for Immunization and Health Promotion began the route, VacuTour COVID-19, visiting four municipalities simultaneously, managing to inoculate 3,372 people of the golden age.

“Today we inject more than a vaccine, we inject hope into our people. In the face of so much anxiety caused by the pandemic we were able to give a respite to those who need it most. Today, we once again showed that when we unite we can achieve better results .I am convinced that this is the beginning of a new stage in Puerto Rico vaccination that will be successful, “said Secretary Carlos Mellado Lopez.

He also added, “for Governor Pierluisi vaccination is a priority and we will continue to establish strategies that allow us to carry out a more agile and proactive vaccination. I am grateful for VOICES and all the collaboration received by the mayors of the municipalities visitors and the municipal staff who helped us to inoculate our older adults, “he said.

Teatro América in Vega Baixa and at the Coliseo Guillermo Angulo in Carolina.

Since we started vaccinating a month ago , we have immunized over 15,000 more people against COVID-19, and we are ready to continue the VacuTour alongside the Department of Health’s Vaccination Program.With experience in mass and community vaccinations we will offer access to immunization to more people with the respect and affection that characterizes us. This initiative was joined by volunteers from the College of Surgeons of Puerto Rico, the College of Nursing, the Women Leaders organization, students from NUC University and EDP College, and the Ricky Martin Foundation.

Dra. Antonia Coello Novello emphasized that “our older adults are our priority. It is the most vulnerable population and is the sector with the highest mortality rate due to COVID-19 infection.
