A heavy metal guitarist accused of being part of a group of Capitol rioters who sprayed police with “bear spray” was arrested Sunday, according to the FBI.
Jon Schaffer, a founding member of a Florida-based heavy metal band called Iced Earth, faces six charges, including committing an act of physical violence in a Capitol building, the office of the FBI Indianapolis he tweeted.
Schaffer was first identified after his image appeared on an FBI poster looking for riot police to “make illegal entry” into the Capitol during the deadly January 6 siege, Indianapolis had reported. Star.
Earlier, he attended Trump rallies and appeared as a guest on the radio program of far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, the newspaper reported.
Schaffer’s four bandmates had issued a statement denouncing the riots.
“We hope that all those involved that day will be brought to justice so that they can be investigated and held accountable for their actions,” the statement said.
“With a broken heart, we are sending our love and compassion to everyone who has felt pain for the events of January 6.”
