DETROIT – Sudden and heavy rain caused a new round of flooding in parts of Metro Detroit on Friday (August 27).
The flood affected several highways in the area. Southfield Highway was flooded from Ford Road to Joy Road at 4 p.m. Michigan State Police also said the ramp to I-96 was also closed due to flooding.
The enclosures sent traffic to side streets and neighborhoods that also experienced flooding. Water levels rose so rapidly in some areas that cars found themselves stranded on the streets while trying to avoid other flooded areas.
The Great Lakes Water Authority said its pumps were working properly during the downpour and said they had personnel on hand. Yes they warned that more storms are expected this weekend.
Announcements
There were a lot of people trying to get garbage out of the obstructed drains. Many people used rakes, shovels or even their hands to remove waste and thus be able to drain the water.
