Puerto Rican actor Enrique Tomás Delgado Jiménez, better known as Henry Darrow, died Sunday at the age of 87, As published in the magazine “Variety” and confirmed by its former representative Michael B. Druxman. Darrow died at home in Wilmington, North Carolina.
In the 1960s, Darrow became one of the most famous Latin actors due to his participation in western series and films. According to the National Foundation for Popular Culture, the Manhattan-born artist on September 15, 1933, always proudly proclaimed his Puerto Rican origins, although he was forced to adopt an Anglo-Saxon professional pseudonym to facilitate his entry into the world of American film and television.
Her parents, Enrique, who owns a restaurant in the Bedford Village area of New York, and Gloria were originally from the town of Corozal. At age 13, Darrow moved with his family to St. John’s and, after culminating its studies in the School Our Lady of the Perpetual Aid, entered the Department of Drama, University of Puerto Rico. In addition to being part of the University Theater Company, he also joined the famous University Choir, conducted at the time by Maestro Augusto Rodríguez Amador. Later, from 1957 to 1959, he expanded his acting knowledge at the prestigious Pasadena Playhouse Academy.
