If you’re using a Galaxy S21, S21 +, or S21 Ultra, and want to see the latest software Samsung is developing, you’ll want to get involved with the One UI beta program. Version 4.0 is currently available for beta testers of the program and has quite a few new changes. The main one, at least for U.S. owners, is eSIM card support. The feature was previously available in other countries and territories (as well as for T-Mobile Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra).

We’re also seeing more than a dozen big and small changes, and that’s what we were able to detect quickly. Here is a brief summary.

New visual notification and brightness slider design:

Low intensity options (such as Android 12 Pixels):

A new widget selector for the home screen:

New notification permission windows:

Permission usage history:

New device care design:

New interface for disabling shadow notifications:

New precise location permission in the style of Android 12:

Other changes include adjustments to various applications and settings:

  • Sync Wi-Fi with the Samsung cloud
  • New upload animation
  • New colors
  • New configuration user interface
  • Updated dark mode examples are shown
  • New gloss icon
  • New animation to smooth the movement, new user interface configuration
  • Galaxy system app update (outside Galaxy Store)
  • New privacy board
  • Clipboard toast notifications
  • Private computing core
  • Added labs with multiple windows for everyone
  • Driving digital wellness monitor
  • Design of new animations and haptics for device cars
  • New animation to reduce the home screen
  • New camera user interface
  • New calendar user interface
  • Editing the light balance configuration

The beta version of One UI 4 is available for Galaxy S21 devices, but curiously the new Z Flip3 and Z Fold3 are not invited. It’s also geographically limited: users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, South Korea, India, and China have access to it, but everyone will have to wait. (It may not be released immediately in all countries; so far we can only confirm it in the United States.) To sign up, go to the Samsung Developers site.
