Tonight begins the salt weekend
Update: The open beta of Guilty Gear Strive is now available for all PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 gamers. Downloading requires about 11GB of space on the PS4.
Humanity knew it couldn’t wait any longer to test the clean recovery code of Guilty Gear Strive, so instead of hiding it from the world, Arc System Works is about to open the floodgates to almost everyone who they want to play.
The open public version of Guilty Gear Strive is scheduled to be released in a few hours, so we’ve put together everything you need to know to get started before moving on to online games since the servers will be available for characters and how the game will flow.
First, it’s probably important to find out when / where the beta will be available, so this test will only be available to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners.
The beta client can be downloaded from PlayStation Store starting tonight, February 18, at 7 pm PT / 22:00 ETand servers are scheduled to run at the same time.
If you i can’t find the beta version that appears in PS Store on consoles, you can add them to your library from the version of the marketplace website, and then download them from the library to the system of your choice.
No maintenance downtime is supposed to occur, but the servers were unexpectedly disconnected Thursday earlier for those who entered the action early and remained as such for about five hours.
This open beta testing period is expected to last until Sunday, Feb. 21, at 6:59 a.m. PT where the application is likely to be able to play without the server connection.
There are 13 playable characters to choose from, among which is the vast majority of fighters available at launch, only leaving out Anji Mito and the 15th entering without warning.
ArcSys posted specific startup guide videos for each character that you can check out by clicking on the following links: Giovanna, Nagoriyuki, Leo, Ramlethal, Zato-1, Millia, Ky Kiske, Potemkin, May, Sol, Axl, Chipp, and Faust.
They also made the systems overview video below to show the various mechanics available in Strive, such as the ability to cancel Roman / enhanced.
Newer or less familiar gamers with the Guilty Gear series may also want to check out some additional beginner guides and luckily content creators like Rooflemonger and LordKnight have covered it as the game’s beta tutorial doesn’t teach. very nothing.
Even veterans will have to learn a lot, as Strive is a very different beast on the field, where battles are much more grounded than the usual high-flying combos and the elimination of most Gatling options. The damage done is also very high, so the blocking, bursting, and proper use of Roman cancellations is more important than ever.
Unlike last year’s first beta, there are several modes to spend your time offline games, including a robust training mode and an offline mode if you just want to use your computer or a friend on the couch.
It’s also different from what we had to play before Strive now works with a recovery code instead of relying on the delay, something fans have been demanding since its initial revelation.
Professionals and others who have had the opportunity to play have already stated that it may be the smoothest online game they have ever experienced in a fighting game.
While these brilliant reviews are promising, we need to keep in mind that, overall, these players are investing in the best internet available and playing on cable connections, so the general public may see a different result.
While there will be no connection filters present in the beta version, Strive actually shows the ping and rollback frames that occur in games with 200 ms + game reports that can still be played. The higher the number, the worse the match.
Many are also trying out intercontinental matches by joining the lobbies of other countries, so don’t be afraid to climb the Japanese tower to see how well you look.
A PlayStation Plus subscription is not required to play online, so anyone with Sony consoles and an Internet connection can play Strive.
It returns the almost universal lobby system as well as its unique classification system, although standard match search is also available. Some have reported that this feature was not working properly when the beta was launched, but hopefully it is set for the main event.
Those looking to start full action will have to wait about two months, as Guilty Gear Strive is scheduled to launch on PS4, PS5 and PC on April 9th.
